Britannica Schools Online – this is a safe, accessible, child-friendly online encyclopaedia.
BBC Bitesize – over the next few weeks, BBC will release daily content to help your child to learn at home.
PE with Joe – TV personality and fitness coach Joe Wicks will be releasing daily 30-minute Youtube workout videos, so you can start your morning with a great energy boost!
Pobble 365 – this is a literacy-based website which presents a daily picture, then suggests reading and writing activities around that picture.
White Rose Maths – we have been using WRM in our day-to-day maths lessons, so children will already be familiar with it. WRM have released a collection of daily maths lessons for each year group, including how-to videos and answer sheets.
Wellbeing Wednesday – The Teacher’s Pet Website is offering free access to their wellbeing resources. They use child friendly Superhero characters to help children understand the range of feelings they may be experiencing and teach skills to help improve wellbeing. Each week a different character is introduced. Last week, we met Professor Pinwheel, whose superpower enabled him to control his feelings by focusing on his breathing. He taught you how by using his secret weapon, the pinwheel. There is a task, journal activity and some mindful colouring to have a go at.
Picture News videos and Picture News discussion boards – these are some child-friendly news resources that we use regularly in school. Picture News have released prompts for children to use when listening to the news. These prompts can be downloaded below: KS1 prompt / KS2 prompt
Actiphons Live sessions – phonics is an important part of reading for children in KS1, and Actiphons is a resource we use at school. On their Facebook page, Actiphons will be hosting several live phonics sessions across the coming weeks.
Be Internet Legends – this is content designed by Google to encourage safer internet browsing. This is especially important in these times as we expect children to be using the internet more frequently. Parent lessons are available to download here. Be Internet Legends has also designed a child-friendly online game called Interland, which explores some of the main topics of staying safe online. This game can be accessed here.
